Grab them on the go or stick some into your kids snack packs for a great way to satisfy that sweet tooth while giving your body an energy and immunity boost

A quick note about Propolis: Propolis is a substance produced by worker bees and is used as a beehive defender in the Honeybee Ecosystem. It has been used since ancient times for its antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and immune boosting properties.

These energy balls contain Honey with Propolis as a sweetener, making sure that you and your family get a boost of all the good stuff while still indulging in a tasty treat. They come together easily and could also be a good opportunity to get your kids involved while making them.

Ingredients:

3/4th cup Peanut or Almond Butter

1 cup oatmeal

1.3rd cup Symbeeosis Honey with Propolis

1/3rd cup dark chocolate chips

Method:

Start by melting your Almond or Peanut butter on a pan or in a microwave a little so it becomes slightly runny. Take it off the heat and once slightly cooler add 1/3rd cup of Honey with Propolis and whisk to incorporate. You want to make sure that the nut butter isn’t hot when you mix the Honey in as heat can destroy some beneficial nutrients found in honey.

In a medium sized bowl add your Nut Butter and Honey with Propolis, Oatmeal and Chocolate Chips.

Mix well with a spatula or your hands. Get your kids to do the dirty work if you wish!

You want to end up with a fully combined slightly sticky mixture. If the mixture is too sticky, put it in the fridge for 20 – 30 minutes to firm up a little bit. Scoop up scant tablespoon sized portions and roll into balls.

Store them in a box or a freezer bag. These will keep in the fridge for 2 weeks or in the freezer for upto 3 months.

Tips:

*Feel free to add other superfoods to your mix – chia, hemp or flax seeds would be a wonderful and nutritious add in.*

*Make these into cake pops by putting them onto lolly sticks and dipping them in melted chocolate. Leave in the fridge on a baking paper covered tray to set. *
